Maarjamõisa Medical Campus' Art installation Proposal @2014

Co-authors: Sille Pihlak, Siim Tuksam / PART

Installation designed for Maarjamõisa Medical Centre atrium is not only aimed to enrich the interior via aesthetic solutions, but also to provide a practical and micro-ecologically useful answers that offer curative pleasures to hospital patients, an interesting experience to visitors and improve the overall environment of the hospital making every-day life and work in the hospital more enjoyable.

The installation is designed to create an organic environment through space, variety and movement - and all that in a peaceful, pleasant and natural way. This solution would create in the middle level of the atrium a gently waving green front. Organic and smooth movement would soften the architecturally harsh and rectangular style in the atriums interior, making the time that patients spend at the hospital more enjoyable and varied - the slow metamorphosis of the installation fascinates and soothes around the room like clouds or softly undulating sea. Movement of plants creates a rich experience of space through varying ceiling heights and shapes - once the dome, then concave etc. Installations functions as a sort of natural clock that turns seconds to the eternity, in a calming and smooth way.
